With a Personal Portfolio there are two options when it comes to investing your money.
You can choose our Easy option where your money is invested in one of our MyFolio Index Funds, based on your attitude to risk. The team at Aberdeen Standard Investments look after your investments. This could be a good choice for you if you don’t have the time to look after your own investments or if you’re new to investing.
Or, you can choose our DIY investment option. You can choose from the full range of thousands of funds from many of the leading fund managers in the market. This could be an option if you're an experienced investor.
Whichever you choose, it's easy to change your investments in the future. If you select our Easy option you can still choose funds from the DIY range. Or if you choose the DIY option, you will also be able to invest in the MyFolio Index Funds whenever you want to.
With this option, you simply pick one of the MyFolio Index Funds based on how much investment risk you want to take. The experts from Aberdeen Standard Investments who manage these funds will then aim to produce the best possible returns for you for that level of risk.
Keep in mind that the value of investments can go down as well as up and you could get back less than you paid in. Essentially, the higher the level of risk, the more your investment could go up and down in value. If you aren’t comfortable taking even a small amount of risk with your money then the MyFolio Index Funds aren’t right for you.
You can check your attitude to risk using our quick questionnaire.
You can find out more about the MyFolio Index Funds on our dedicated page.
If you prefer to choose your own funds, you can pick from the full range of thousands of funds. These cover different asset classes, regions and investment styles. You should make sure your investment choices meet your savings goals and attitude to risk. You’ll also need to make sure you have the time to regularly review and monitor your choices to make sure they still aim to meet your goals.
